Deputy Prime Minister – Minister for Reintegration of the Temporarily Occupied Territories of Ukraine Iryna Vereshchuk said that almost 800,000 internally displaced persons will need housing.

“Regarding the need for temporary housing, almost 800,000 citizens of Ukraine have lost their homes. The Ministry of Communities and Territories Development deals with modular housing, like the rest of the construction. It has programmes and appropriate funds. As you know, there are joint programmes with the Polish government, other governments. The first modular towns are ready, but they are definitely not enough,” Vereshchuk said.

She noted that sufficient housing would not be built this year. People will need to move and the heating season will be difficult.

Also, according to Vereshchuk’s forecasts, about half a million more people will move from east to west in the autumn period, creating an additional burden in addition to those who have left earlier.

As a reminder, since the beginning of the war, Russian troops have been deliberately annihilating Ukrainians. Since the onset of the large-scale aggression, 17,314 strikes have been launched on civilian objects and slightly more than 300 strikes – on military objects.
