Between 24 February and the morning of 15 September, 383 children were killed and at least 750 more were injured in Ukraine due to Russia’s full-scale invasion, the Prosecutor General’s Office reports, emphasising that these data are not final.

“Most children were affected in the Donetsk region – 393, Kharkiv region – 210, Kyiv region – 116, Mykolaiv region – 72, Chernihiv region – 68, Luhansk region – 61, Kherson region –  55, Zaporizhzhia region – 46, Dnipropetrovsk region – 26. A 14-year-old boy was injured in the enemy shelling of the Kharkiv region,” the law enforcement officers reported.

According to their data, 2,480 educational institutions were damaged due to bombing and shelling by the armed forces of the Russian Federation. Of them, 289 were completely destroyed.

At the same time, the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine informed that their fighters had freed five teenagers held by the occupiers in a basement in the Kharkiv region.

Russian invaders locked up children aged 15 to 17 in one of the basement rooms.

As it turned out, by the time of their release, four girls and a boy had been in the basement for seven days. Teenagers, residents of the Kupyansk, Izium, and Chuhuiv districts, turned out to be students of an educational institution and would-be doctors.

They said that the occupiers had subjected them to filtration and then locked them in the basement without explaining the reasons.
