1 million 400 thousand children are below the poverty line due to quarantine

More than a million children – 1 million 400 thousand in Ukraine were below the poverty line due to quarantine measures during the pandemic – these are the latest calculations of UNICEF experts.

In turn, in the Ministry of Social Policy of Ukraine only for the period of quarantine found 35 thousand families who found themselves in difficult life circumstances and need help.

UNICEF also reports that COVID-19 is exacerbating inequalities in Ukraine: Internet access, computer availability, and living conditions.

“The crisis surrounding the spread of COVID-19 is unique, as quarantine has affected everyone: both rich and poor remain at home and have limited traffic. However, we understand that not everyone who “stays at home” is on equal terms, “the organization informs.
