258 citizens of Ukraine went missing in the territory of Donbas uncontrolled by the Ukrainian government. The Ombudsman Lyudmyla Denysova announced this.

According to her, 251 Ukrainians are currently being held captive in ORDLO. This information was confirmed via the Security Service of Ukraine prisoners’ release centre. Among them are 34 military members; all the others are civilians and volunteers. However, more than 200 citizens are missing, and the Ukrainian side has no information about these people.

“This number has been confirmed by us, in particular, by the Security Service of Ukraine via citizens’ appeals, the witnesses’ confirmation, those who have returned from captivity. But we still have 258 missing persons. So, we don’t know if they are alive. We need to look for them,” the ombudsman said.

To recap, on 9 December 2019, 76 citizens returned to their families in the territory controlled by the Ukrainian government, including 12 military members who were held captive in the temporarily occupied territories of Donbas.
