Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmytro Kuleba and High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell made a joint video address on the occasion of granting Ukraine EU candidate status.

The officials announced the immediate start of preparations for the integration of Ukraine into European structures.

The top diplomats of Ukraine and the EU underscored this is a historic moment for the European Union, Ukraine, peace, and democracy on our shared continent.

“Russian aggression will not succeed in depriving people in Europe of their right to live a normal, decent life. Ukraine will win and Europe will prevail,” they said.

The Minister and the High Representative announced the beginning of preparations for Ukraine’s integration into European structures.

“Today marks the beginning of a long journey that we will walk together. We will immediately launch the preparation for the integration of Ukraine into European structures and, ultimately, membership in the European Union,” the diplomats announced.

Kuleba and Borrell believe that the EU sends a strong message with this historic decision: Ukrainian people belong to the European family, and Ukraine’s future is with the European Union.

“Ukraine and the EU stand together for peace,” they summed up.
