Forty-Five Servicepersons Killed in Donbas During Year of Ceasefire Regime

Over the year since the ceasefire was announced in Donbas, the losses of the Ukrainian armed forces halved as 45 Ukrainian service members have been killed, the Ukrainian delegation to the Trilateral Contact Group (TCG) for the peaceful settlement of the situation in eastern Ukraine posted on Telegram.

Moreover, 1,995 attacks have been recorded, 163 servicepersons have been wounded since 27 July 2020.

At the same time, the Joint Forces Operation Headquarters reported that during the same period (from 27 July 2019 to 27 July 2020), Russian-backed illegal armed groups launched 4,257 attacks, killed 88 defenders of Ukraine, and wounded another 494.

The TCG stressed that Ukraine remained committed to a political and diplomatic solution to the war in Donbas. This is evidenced by numerous statements by representatives of international organisations (from the UN Security Council to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe), the mediators within the Normandy format, the G7 states.

As a reminder, the full and comprehensive ceasefire regime began to operate in Donbas at 00:01 on 27 July 2020. The Joint Forces Operation Headquarters stated that there were no events with such a scale of preparations for the ceasefire regime over the entire operation.
