Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Andriy Yermak had a telephone conversation with Foreign Policy Adviser to German Chancellor Jens Plötner and Diplomatic Adviser to the President of France Emmanuel Bonn. The negotiations took place ahead of the visit of representatives of Germany and France to Moscow.

“We agreed to continue coordinating our actions in the context of the current situation. We are grateful for the unwavering support for Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity,” Yermak posted on his Twitter page.

As reported, political advisers to the Normandy format leaders will hold separate meetings in various formats in Moscow on 6 January.

German Federal Government Spokesperson Steffen Hebestreit informed that a conversation was planned between Jens Plötner, Emmanuel Bonn, and Russia’s representative at this level – Deputy Chief of Staff of the Russian Presidential Executive Office Dmitry Kozak.

Moreover, Plötner and Bonn will also meet with the Ukrainian adviser to the Normandy format leader, but the exact date of this meeting is still unknown.

In recent weeks, the new German government has repeatedly stressed the interest of Berlin and Paris in the Normandy format meeting at all levels. The presidents of Ukraine and Russia were informed about the readiness of the partners.

As a reminder, the previous meeting of the Normandy format foreign ministers, scheduled for 11 November, was disrupted by the Russian Federation. After that, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov issued a series of accusations against Ukraine and his French and German colleagues, as well as published diplomatic correspondence on the Ministry’s website.
