The SBU has exposed a Russian agent who crated 20 pro-Russian online media outlets in Ukraine. As the cybersecurity department of the Security Service of Ukraine reports, the malefactor is a resident of Kyiv. He was supervised by the special services of the aggressor country to disseminate the ideas of the “Russian world” in Ukraine as widely as possible.

To do this, the Kyivan was tasked with creating more than 20 online media outlets. They regularly justified the armed aggression of the Russian Federation and glorified its participants. In addition, knowingly false information about the Armed Forces of Ukraine was actively promoted and Ukrainian defenders were discredited through these web resources. The total audience of those resources was more than 2.2 million unique users per month.

The investigators of the Security Service of Ukraine detained the agent and served him with notice of suspicion under Part 3 of Art. 436-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (production and distribution of materials in which the armed aggression of Russia against Ukraine is justified, recognised as lawful, and denied). The agent may face imprisonment of up to five years with possible confiscation of property.
