Counterintelligence officers of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) stopped the illegal activities of a Ukrainian citizen who was recruited by Russian special services. By the order of Russian curators, he tried to establish a channel for the smuggling of electronic devices from Ukraine to Russia, which are critically needed for the Russian military-industrial complex.

It is established that the resident of the city of Rivne was recruited during his stay in Russia. At the request of the curator, he purchased a number of electronic military products used in the manufacture of weapons and military equipment, including launch vehicles.

Afterwards the recruited agent was tasked to transfer the products to the Russia. In case of successful implementation of the scheme, the Russians planned to set up a permanent channel for the movement of military and dual-use goods to the aggressor country.

The SBU officers found and seized critical import products that had been prepared by the agent of the Russian special services for smuggling from Ukraine.

Investigators of the security authorities served the citizen of Ukraine with the notice of charges under Part 1 of Article 111 (treason) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. Operational and investigative actions are underway. The offender is currently giving incriminating testimony and facilitating a pre-trial investigation.
