DEUkraine will not provide military assistance to either side in the Azerbaijani-Armenian conflict. The Ministry of Internal Affairs Head Arsen Avakov wrote about this on Twitter, responding to the words of MP Lyudmila Marchenko.
The other day, on the air of a Ukrainian TV channel, the politician stated that Ukraine could provide military and humanitarian support to Azerbaijan. After the announcement, the MP clarified on her Facebook page that the media misinterpreted her words because “there was no talk of weapons provision.”
At the same time, Dmytro Kuleba, the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, called on Facebook for politicians to refrain from any statements about military aid to Azerbaijan or Armenia, because a relevant decision can be made just by the president and the government.
“Under the active armed conflict, numerous casualties, and destruction, I once again call for everybody to make balanced statements and comments that would not arouse emotions, provoke confrontation and hostility, but correspond to the official position of the Ukrainian state. In short, please, control your emotions, and do not play with other people’s feelings,” Kuleba stressed.
He also stated that Ukraine is a homeland to numerous Armenian and Azerbaijani diasporas. So, it is essential to ensure peace and interethnic harmony for all ethnic communities living in Ukraine.
