On 19 March 2026 Alexandre Penasse, chief editor of the pro-Kremlin Kairos Presse, plans another screening in Brussels of his propaganda film “Russie, Ukraine – derriere l’ecran de fumee”. The event is openly advertised with the exact southern Brussels location to be revealed to attendees only 24-48 hours in advance – a classic tactic used to evade possible cancellation by authorities.
This follows the failed attempt to screen the same film in Brussels on 31 January 2026, which was cancelled. The documentary systematically whitewashes Russia’s aggression since 2014, distorts reality in the occupied territories of Donbas and pushes narratives designed to undermine international support for Ukraine.
Just days ago, on 11-13 March 2026, Portuguese authorities effectively blocked a similar propaganda tour in Lisbon featuring Penasse’s film together with Italian pro-Russian propagandist Sara Reginella’s “The Front of the Invisibles”. The venue cancelled the events hours before they were due to start after recognising clear unlawful pro-Russian agitation.
We urge Brussels city authorities to act with the same resolve and immediately prevent this latest platform for Kremlin disinformation from taking place in the heart of the European Union. We also call on the Embassy of Ukraine in Belgium to pay close attention to Alexandre Penasse’s persistent pro-Russian propaganda activities on Belgian soil.
