The aggressor state has intensified efforts to discredit Ukraine in the eyes of the European community through a coordinated disinformation campaign. The strategic goal of the Kremlin is to erode trust between Kyiv and its partners by portraying Ukraine as an unpredictable and dangerous ally using energy transit as a weapon.
This strategy is implemented through the dissemination of information that distort reality and shift responsibility for the energy crisis from the aggressor to the victim of aggression.
Information presenting Ukraine as a state merely demanding resources ignore the context of unprovoked aggression. Ukraine’s appeals for weapons and funding are a legitimate defense mechanism against a violation of international order. The goal of Ukraine is not the continuation of war, but the achievement of a just peace and security guarantees necessary for the physical preservation of the nation against an enemy with genocidal intentions.
Claims that Ukraine artificially blocks the Druzhba pipeline to blackmail Hungary contradict technical realities. The instability of the pipeline is a direct consequence of military actions by the Russian Federation. The infrastructure has sustained over 400 attacks. Specifically, the shelling on January 27, 2026, resulted in critical damage to equipment near Brody. The functioning of the pipeline is physically limited by Russian shelling, not by political decisions of Kyiv.
Rumors about Ukraine intending to sabotage the Turkish Stream or Blue Stream pipelines are completely fabricated. Russia provides no evidence for such intentions because they do not exist. Ukraine remains a reliable partner and has no motives to destroy energy infrastructure supplying Europe. Such statements serve exclusively to justify Russian aggression and isolate Ukraine internationally.
The dissemination of these narratives is an instrument of hybrid warfare intended to weaken international support for Ukraine. Russia remains the only party using energy as a geopolitical weapon and refusing to cease hostilities.
