Taiwan in the EU and Belgium: On the second anniversary of Russia’s invasion, #Taiwan joins Ukraine and other peace-loving democracies to march through Brussels streets to show our steadfast support for #Ukraine.

Colleagues of the Taipei Representative Office in the EU and Belgium joined the march in support of Ukraine with more than 7,000 peace-loving friends in Brussels on 25 February, organised by the NGO “Promote Ukraine.” Not even the wind and rain could dampen our unwavering resolve to stand firmly with Ukraine!

At the end of the parade, Ambassador Roy Lee, along with the ambassadors of Ukraine, Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, Poland, the United Kingdom, and Ireland, reiterated that Taiwan’s staunch support for Ukraine will never tire. Even though Taiwan and Ukraine are thousands of miles apart, we both face threats from neighbouring authoritarian regimes. In his remarks, Ambassador Lee thanked Ukrainians for their determination to defend democracy and expressed his sincere hope to see the victory of Ukraine soon!

Despite being plagued by war, the Ukrainian people have never given up hope and will never bow to the threats of an authoritarian regime. This is not just a war between Ukraine and Russia, but also a war between democracy and authoritarianism; it is about values and the free way of life. As long as the global democratic partners are united, we truly believe the day of David triumphing against Goliath is not far victory.
