Ukraine, the Republic of Poland and the Republic of Lithuania are working on a new cooperation format – the “Lublin Triangle.”

According to Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba, this area of cooperation “will be an important element in the Central Europe development and strengthening, and also in Ukraine strengthening as the full member of the European and Euro-Atlantic nation’s family.”

During a joint press conference with the Polish and Lithuanian counterparts in Lublin, the Ukrainian Foreign Minister stressed that these countries already cooperate in the military sphere within the Lithpolukbrbrig brigade. The new format envisages cooperation expanding.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine press service published a declaration on the “Lublin Triangle” establishment. It states that the parties organise consultations at the level of the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of their countries’ leaderships and establish the representatives’ positions on cooperation in the new format in the Ministries of Foreign Affairs. The responsible persons will hold regular meetings, in particular, in the multilateral activities fields.

The parties emphasized the importance of a dialogue between the three countries in a Parliamentary work, especially within the Ukraine-Poland-Lithuania Parliamentary Assembly.

Besides, the foreign ministers of these countries called on Russia to withdraw its troops from Donetsk and Luhansk regions of Ukraine.

The counterparts also reaffirmed a desire to deepen and expand Ukrainian-Polish-Lithuanian cooperation between the armed forces was as well to provide mutual support in the fight against the coronavirus pandemic.
