Counterintelligence and investigators of the Security Service of Ukraine detained a resident of the Donetsk region who was trying to blow up a power distribution substation in the area of the Joint Forces operation in the Donetsk region.

The investigators of the intelligence service proved that the man had acted to perform the task of the so-called “State Security Committee of the DNR.” He removed an improvised explosive device from a pre-prepared shelter, which he had planned to lay on the site, bring into combat readiness, and commit a terrorist act. According to the Russian supervisors’ plans, the explosion was to have destabilised the socio-political situation in the region and intimidated the population.

Currently, the attacker is detained under Art. 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine. He was informed about the suspicion of committing a crime under Part 1 of Art. 258-3 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. A preventive measure as pre-trial detention was selected.
