Ukrainian Military Gaining Foothold on Frontiers Achieved in Southern Direction

According to Andriy Kovaliov, spokesman for the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the defence forces of Ukraine continue to go on the offensive in the direction of Melitopol and Berdiansk.

“They’ve had partial success and gain a foothold on the frontiers achieved in Novodanylivka – Robotyne, Mala Tokmachka – Verbove, Vilne Pole – Makarivka directions,” he said.

The enemy focused its main efforts on holding the defence and preventing the advance of Ukrainian troops, using reserves, and trying to regain the lost positions.

The defence forces of Ukraine continue to restrain the advance of Russian troops in the east of the country.

“Especially heavy fighting continues in (the) Lyman direction in the areas of Yampolivka and Serebrianske forestry in (the) Donetsk region,” said the representative of the General Staff.

He added that the Armed Forces of Ukraine conducted offensive operations in the Bilohorivka–Shypylivka direction, had partial success, and gained a foothold on the achieved boundaries.

In general, the enemy continues to focus its main efforts on the Lyman, Bakhmut, Avdiyivka, and Maryinka areas. Heavy fighting continues. Over the past day, 40 combat engagements took place.
