A resolution against Russia’s admission to the G7 has been submitted to the Senate. A senator-Democrat from the state of Illinois, Dick Durbin, became the author of the initiative, the official’s press service reports.

“The resolution makes clear that the United States Senate will oppose Russia’s readmission if it does not stop its malicious actions against Ukraine, our allies and the United States,” said Democrat Dick Durbin, Сo-Chair of the Senate committee on Ukraine.

Durbin believes that US President Donald Trump has to use all “tools to resist Russia’s threats to militaries, elections and the sovereignty of democracies around the world. Instead, he seeks to normalise Russia’s relations with the United States and reward the Kremlin.”

The resolution has already been supported by 12 senators.

To recap, US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo has discussed arranging the UN Security Council five permanent members summit with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.
