DEThe Promote Ukraine delegation came to a demonstration to spread a message of peace different from that conveyed by the participants. “The organisers allowed us to come as observers,” said Marta Barandiy, the President of Promote Ukraine.
“Speaking to those present, we got the impression that many people came to the demonstration for peace in Ukraine but did not really understand the message conveyed by this demonstration, namely: not to supply more weapons to Ukrainians. On the contrary, we ask you to supply weapons to Ukraine but to defend ourselves, not to attack. We did not declare war. Putin did that. Our army was not ready and, having no weapons, we may only surrender in the face of large Russia. I don’t think the demonstration participants really have pro-Russian views, but the message they convey serves Putin’s interests.”
