The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine is planning a counteroffensive in several directions. Also, the military is waiting for an “appropriate moment”. The offensive of the Armed Forces of Ukraine should begin in April or May this year.

Minister of Defence of Ukraine Oleksii Reznikov said this in an interview with ERR Estonian media outlet.

When asked when Leopard tanks, provided by the allies, will be seen on the battlefield, the minister noted that they would be used in the counteroffensive.

“You will see them in a counteroffensive by the decision of our General Staff. It is already planned in several directions. It depends on what moment will be the most appropriate as they decide. Also, everything depends on weather conditions. In the spring, our land is very wet. Only tracked vehicles can be used. I think we will be able to see them in April or May,” said the minister.

He also expressed confidence that the world will see “very positive changes for Ukraine” this year.

“I am sure that we will continue to liberate the temporarily occupied territories as was done in Kyiv, Chernihiv, Sumy, Kharkiv, Kherson, and on Zmiinyi Island. Everything continues,” Reznikov noted.

At the same time, he said, the Ukrainian military on the front lines is tired because the war has been going on for more than a year.

Speaking about Bakhmut, Reznikov said that in this direction the Ukrainian defenders significantly “reduced the Russian offensive potential” which will help the defenders “to keep the front line stable and give time to prepare for a counteroffensive.”
