Currently, large-scale work is underway in Ukraine to identify children who were abducted by the Russian Federation in the occupied territories. It is already known about 16,226 such children.
Commissioner of the President of Ukraine for Children’s Rights and Rehabilitation Daria Herasymchuk said this during a meeting with the Ukrainian community in New York.
At the same time, she noted that the real number of children forcibly taken to Russia reached hundreds of thousands. So far, only 307 children have returned to their homeland.
It is officially established that 461 children were killed and 920 more were injured as a result of the actions of Russian troops.
In addition, Herasymchuk said that there were no data from the occupied territories, and new mass graves were identified amid the liberation of territories.
According to the Commissioner of the President of Ukraine for Children’s Rights, all more than 7.5 million children who lived in Ukraine at the time of the beginning of the full-scale invasion were affected in one way or another.
